Yup, because Han Solo shot Greedo the alien first in the original movie, but Lucas changed it in later additions so that Greedo shoots first. I’m sure someone will come around to add a more detailed explaination. ---

My kid sister has one of those! But **I** have one of 24 pairs of Mary Prankster panties that she threw into the crowd during her 24th birthday show at the Niteclub 9:30. Sometimes I ask Lady Chance to wear it…you know…for ‘special’ occasions. Admit it. You’re jealous. ---

Unfortunately, because in the special edition Greedo misses his shot from two feet away, he now appears so childishly inept that Han comes off as a dick for killing the poor bastard. ---

Weirdly appropriate on the thong, I think. To this day, I wonder if Lucas will ever get around to reediting _Raiders Of The Lost Ark_ the same way, to include a segment about how those natives actually \*stole \* the gold idol from an American museum (which justifies Indy’s stealing it back) and a digital recreation of the scene with the giant Arab scimitar guy, in which – instead of his giant swords – he’s given a Maxim gun, with which he blasts away at Indy, thus justifying Indy’s slow, weary drawing of his revolver and shooting the poor bastard… (You remember, the scene where the giant Arab scimitar guy yells at Indy, then starts doing giant scimitar tricks with this “I will slice and dice you and giggle while I do it” look on his face? And Indy just wearily draws his revolver and shoots the guy, from several yards away, giving him no chance to defend himself at all? And we all laughed, back in '79, when we saw that movie?) ---

The dialogue makes it abundantly clear that Greedo is going to kill Han. 99.9% of the people who watch the movie conclude that Han was acting in self-defence, even if he did shoot first. Unfortunately, some time in the last 25 years Lucas joined that misguided 0.1% ---

'79, hell! We watched the DVD a couple months ago and had to rewind and watch that scene two or three times just for the sheer brilliant hilarity of it all. ---

I love it. Lucas deserves to be beaten severely about the head and shoulders for that little revision. Ruined one of the best moments of the whole damned movie. To all of my siblings who insist that I’m really hard to shop for at birthday time, I now know where to point them. ---
