But they should. It’s a skilled job that people obviously have to train for; it can’t just be done by robots. And I have to assume the guys who fly them are officers, not conscripts…it would be cool to get a peek at that little corner of the Imperial world, after seeing SO much of their Rebel counterparts. Looks like a decent sci-fi action film at best and a complete trainwreck at worst. I’ll see it if I hear good things about it and I have a free weekend, otherwise it’s probably a Redbox for me. ---

heres what I know of solos back story ok the story had always been that han solo was some sort of low- mid level imperial officer and Chewbacca was in chains and being abused in some manner and he went to stop it caused a physical fight and shot the other guys and helped Chewbacca escape there by “resigning” from the empire there was supposed ot be a conversation about how solo knows imperial regulations from memory that tied into how he met chewie but I think only the original marvel comic series ever put it on paper Supposedly when Vader refers to him as “captain” solo in empire hes speaking of his former imperial rank… ---

I am morally certain that Lucasfilm/Disney would not pemit me within twelve parsecs of the _Star Wars_ property even on a dare. I’m frankly kind of shocked they let James Gunn move ahead with _Guardians of the Galaxy_ after the acquisition of Marvel by The Walt Disney Company (but not at all surprised about the endorsement of _Ant-Man_, although I expected them to respond to the resignation of Edgar Wright by appointing Joe Johnston, being experience with both Marvel and shrinking people films) but I do not think they would appreciate the sardonic point of view and pent-up frustration I would bring to the creative sausage-making process. I think I’d do a lot better with an adaptation of the _Doom Patrol_ or _Nextwave_, which are properties for which exactly zero people are demanding a cinematic debut. On the other hand, I do not think I could do any more harm to the _Fantastic Four_ than has already been done, so perhaps Fox will give me a spin with their property, at least until I give a pitch that frames the team in terms of characters from _Macbeth_.
