According to IMDB, these folks would have turned 100 next year:

• Bandleaders Glenn Miller, Jimmy Dorsey, Count Basie and Phil Harris

• Movie stars Cary Grant, Joan Crawford, Greer Garson, Robert Montgomery, Dick Powell, Constance Bennett, Johnny Weissmuller and Peter Lorre

• Movie not-quite superstars Ray Bolger, Fifi D’Orsay, Patsy Ruth Miller, George Brent, Ralph Bellamy, Elissa Landi, Laura La Plante, Marian Nixon, Johnny Mack Brown, Jerry Colonna, Glenda Farrell, Charles “Buddy” Rogers and Alice White

• “Artistes” Cecil Beaton, Dr. Seuss, S.J. Perelman, Willem De Kooning, Moss Hart, Christopher Isherwood and Salvador Dali

• “Mrs. Bridges” Angela Baddeley

• “Amateur Hour’s” Ted Mack

• French heartthrob Jean Gabin

• Fan dancer Sally Rand

• and . . . Ziegfeld Girl Doris Eaton, who is still very much alive and kicking!

If Mr. Miller, Mr. Rogers, Mr. Perelman, Mr. Mack, and Ms. Rand are dead, than who’s been playing craps in my closet for the last week?

. . . Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have Cary Grant, Joan Crawford, Connie Bennett, Dr. Suess and Jean Gabin at their 100th b’day party? Mrs. Bridges could cook, the music would be _amazing_, Cecil Beaton could take the photos, and sally Rand provide the, ummm, entertainment.

Only if Sally _really_ took good care of herself.

Hell, I’d love to party with Dr. Seuss… I could finally find out if he knew my grandmother from way back when.

Some others are Fats Waller, Pinetop Smith, Pete Johnson, possibly Coleman Hawkins (sources disagree on his birthdate) and Sir John Gielgud.

By the way, I have a Charles “Buddy” Rogers record up on my web site this month, at [http://swazoo.com/](http://swazoo.com/).
