March 3rd, 1920.

Thanks for the memories, for your solid acting, and the sparkle in your eye.

Though he is not a well man by any stretch, I hope on this special day he is resting comfortably, enjoying the company of his lovely wife and little daughter.

Sir Rhosis

He is a delightful, courteous man, and I wish him all the best. I met Mr. Doohan briefly in 2001, when I took [this](http://www.mortalwombat.com/TrekExpo2001/JamesDoohan_closeup.jpg) photo. He was swamped by fans, but he made each of us feel that we’d made a new friend.

Here’s hoping he beats the odds and sees his 90th and beyond.

85! Good for him. I’m sure he’s got at least a few more years.

As long that he is not in pain. Otherwise, I wish he’d died, so that he can rest in peace.

When I think of Doohan I think of my own father who died when I was four years old. I have exactly one clear memory of him (a traumatic memory of him cutting his hand and bleeding profusely). Doohan’s daughter is five years old. Every day that he lives is more chances for memories of him for her. I have almost no memories of being four. I have a handful of memories of being five, even more when I was six, seven, eight. So, yes, as long as he is not in pain, I hope he can hold on day after day for another year or so to give something of himself to his daughter.

Does this make sense?

Perfectly. In these conditions I wish him another 85 years.

Is there anything of himself left to give to his daughter? Long life is not always a blessing.

Love, affection, a hug. Probably not a lot beyond that, but his wife is young (48) and can supply what he cannot vocalize, I suppose.
