# Happy Birthday Bugs Bunny

Today marks Bugs Bunny’s 62nd birthday. The short _A Wild Hare_, believed to be the first appearance of the rabbit we know now as Bugs, was released to theatres n July 27, 1940, so this is the date Warner Bros. uses as Bugs’ birthday.

Sadly, this will be the first birthday of Bugs’ he’ll be celebrating without his good friend and accomplice Chuck Jones, who directed some of the most memorable cartoons starring the rabbit.

“Gosh, I’m so unimportant!”

Oddly enough today, or rather yesterday, now, I was “gifted” a pet rabbit. Happy birthday, ya long eared galoot! (I just hope your cousin doesn’t destroy my house!)
