Last night, I was reading _A Brief Welcome to the Universe_ and in one of the final chapters it mentioned that gravitational waves “have proved elusive to detect”. I thought they had been detected, so I looked up when and it’s [exactly 10 years ago today.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_observation_of_gravitational_waves) I thought that was a weird enough coincidence to justify a thread.
