I was born. In a small city on the Texas Gulf Coast. A city built on the salt marshes of a Karankawa swamp. An ice storm had surprised the area, virtually shutting everything down. A friend took my mother to the hospital while my dad’s bosses struggled to find him out on the company’s latest project. He made his way to the hospital, only to find there were complications and they almost lost their second son. That all happened on Friday the 25th. On Saturday morning, the 26th of January, 1963, forty two minutes after midnight, I drew my first breath through my own lungs. It’s been an interesting ride so far, God. Thanks, Mom, thanks, Dad. ---

Thanks, **Vivalostwages** , for the cool Trek gift. And thanks to **SkipMagic** for the inspiring e-mail. (You sneaky bastard, yourself!) Thanks to all my other friends here on the Dope, and thanks even to people who don’t like me, here and irl, for making sure I’m rarely bored. 😉 The first 42 years are just a practice run, I figure. There have been some really amazing highlights, though. I’ll transfer those to my new scorecard. After all, I plan on living forever. ---
