It’s another Fathers Day. Time sure passes quickly. I did better this year and got the card in the mail early. Actually, I mailed it Saturday a week ago. Thinking I was late as usual. I was very relieved there was another week to go. This holiday and mothers day means more as the years pass. I realize and understand better how precious these opportunities are. My dads 83 and I cherish each year that I’m able to still call and hear his voice. ---

My father died in 1991 at the age of 80. He and I butted heads constantly while I was growing up, but he is still my benchmark of how an honorable man should act and live. He was a WW2 veteran and was badly wounded. If the German 88mm shell had hit a little higher on his tank, I wouldn’t be typing this today; it was that close. I’m quite sure I disappointed him by not following in the family footsteps and becoming an attorney. But I also know that I made him quite proud by being successful in my chosen career. I’m testing for 6th Degree Black Belt next Thursday. Dad, this one’s for you. ---

I got steak and corn on the cob, cooked by my son on our new grill. Both were underdone, but still good. I also got a huge shop vac to replace one that’s on its last wheels. And we got invited over to the neighbor’s place for dessert. His daughter just had a baby, and the new dad was there for his first father’s day. And so the circle of life keeps on turning…
