With mom & dad, grandma & grandpa, aunt & uncle, sis & BIL, and brother. Eating, drinking, teasing, laughing. And may I take this opportunity to say: I have a wonderful grandma; a loving aunt; a dear sister; but my mom rocks. If I grow up to be half the woman she is, that’s plenty. ---

I’ll call my mom a little later today, and remind my husband to call his mom. I was with my daughter last week, and she gave me a book and a video, so I don’t even expect a call from her, but who knows?? No special plans. I think we’re going to start un-winterizing the boat this afternoon. I have no intention of venturing forth to restaurants today. So I should probably pull something out of the freezer. ---

I, like my mother before me, don’t care much about Mother’s Day. IMHO these days it’s a made-up Hallmark occasion. What matters more to me is that my children have grown up into lovely young women, and that they are kind, helpful and respectful to me all year. Sometimes they drop by or call for no reason, just for the time together. That means more to me than all the cards and flowers in the world. Oh, and as to the OP, I slept late, made breakfast (pancakes with pure maple syrup) and read the Sunday paper. Later I am going to see Spamalot in NYC with one of my best friends. We’ll go out for supper afterwards, but I have to be home by 9:00 to see Deadwood. ---

Mom doesn’t want “stuff,” so I took her to a tea luncheon: soup, scone with toppings, little sandwiches, dessert, pot of tea, mints.
