**Sari** , that happens with gift/rebate/debit cards too. I got one as a rebate for a phone. I used part of it but when I went to use it in the grocery store a second time it was declined. I later found out I could only use it for up to the max still left on the card so the next time I went to the grocery sto, I first paid $34.23 (or whatever was left) on that card & then paid for the rest the normal way. > [@dogbutler](#): > > **Spidey** , my NYE traditions invovle watching hockey. A half hour+ on hold with the insurance company only to find out they have a problem with their billing and I can ignore the bill. I’m paid up through January and good to go. Called AT&T to find out why I am going over on my data. Seems the tablet never got connected to WIFI duh- my mistake there. Except for Sah-son hardly ever uses the tablet so it still doesn’t make sense. Anyway it has been connect to WiFi and that should make a difference. Tried to call the college because we aren’t sure how to answer some of the questions on the application. Their website is down for maintenance and I doubt anybody is there to answer the phone anyway. Sah-son has had a year to be a bum while the moving plans were up in the air. Of course now my surgery is throwing a kink in the plans. I don’t know where I am going to go after surgery and I will be in the hospital for at least 3 days, more likely 4. Then I won’t be able to drive or walk up and down stairs for 2-3 weeks. He will probably stay with my mother while I am in the hospital, but maybe not. My mother wants me to stay with her after the surgery, I do NOT want to stay with her for that long. If I stay there then Sah-son and the dog will too and my son doesn’t want to stay there for2-3 weeks either. Two friends have offered to let me stay with them but I can’t bring the son and the dog with me. I don’t know how comfortable I’d be at either of their houses and it sounds real nice to invite somebody to stay but 2-3 weeks is a long time. I want to come home but I have stairs, so either I stay upstairs where there is a shower and somebody has to run food/drink up to me all day or I stay downstairs and get very very smelly. Sah-son won’t really mind bringing me stuff all day and that is his preference. If he signs up for all online classes it won’t matter where he is. I want him to take classes on campus though because he is so shy and I am hoping it will get him out and meeting new people. Then I called the house of foam about my couch. It will cost me $78 for each cushion but these cushions are so soft and non-supportive that I can feel the frame when I sit on it and it’s hard to stand up. My mothers bf had had the cushions on the loveseat done and they are nicer to sit on. I can order foam from Amazon for about a 4th of that price and cut it myself. I’ll have to buy an electric knife but it’s still a lot cheaper. I’m not sure though about buying foam without testing it out first. I still need to call Dominoes to check the balances on the older gift cards and I’m waiting for a call back from the gas company to see about going on budget billing. I hate phone calls day, I feel like I’m not getting a thing done. ---

**Spidey** thus far no one has called in incarcerated. I should probably count that as a plus. 😃 Also, while tp is acceptable to use as a tissue, one must remember not to use it as a tissue and its other purpose at the same time. A helpful hint for ya. **sari** mayhaps you should enlist **bbbobbio** and go to war with Dominoes. We don’t do NYE either. Like **MOOOOOOOOOOM** we’re asleep well before midnight. We do have the big NYD feast however. One must have one’s greens and blackeyed peas and it’s my mission to make sure a bunch of folks start the year off right. Thus, NYD includes a pre feast get together for Bloody Mary’s and mimosas with munchies (provided by JDD and Partner this year) and then a huuuuuuuuuge feast which this year shall feature poke tenderloin, blackeyed peas, collard greens, rice, squish casserole, corn bread, and pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert. I lurve to cook this meal! **grouchyrabbit** feel better soonest. I shall endeavor to remember to sing “Soft Kitty” to ya this evenin’. **shoe** yay for bein’ all adulterated and organized! I always stay up until midnight on New Year’s Eve. My default thing to do when I have no other plans is to go down to Old Montreal and listen to the concert they have there and watch the fireworks. ---

**Emily** , **rosie** is correct in the difference between club soda and selzer. At home, I use a SodaStreamTM, so it’s CO2 and water, no sodium. Out, it’s whatever the venue has on tap. **shoe** , I’m not sure if what Jim does is double smoked or not, but it’s good. If you want just plain pork belly to work with, hit an ethnic market. I find things like hog maws, pork belly and neck bones at the international market, a couple Mexican markets and several of the PigglyWigglys in urban neighborhoods. **bobbio** , the hazmat rice is what we get if the sister in California is left unsupervised in the kitchen. For NYE, this year, I’ll be jamming with some of my bluegrass friends with soft drinks and the possibility of a mason jar being passed around. For NY day, I will be fixing pork chops, black eyed peas, turnip greens and corn sticks with a peanut butter pie for dessert. My neighbor and his daughters, son in law and two grandkids will be around to eat it. ---

NYE Lessee - we do cracked crab, sourdough, and pasta. Wine. Mmmmmmmm. Bubbly at midnite for those not in food coma. Sometimes we add the black-eyed peas (food, not musick) for luck. NYD we have 2 birthdays, so we’ll be doing birthday stuff. This year involving a bounce house! I shall not be bouncing. Happy Moanday! ---

Y’all know that thing that sometimes happens at irk when we lose power and the phones don’t work? The thing that **flytrap** says happens cause my bear foot trips on the power cord? My New Year’s plans are irkin’ ‘til 2 am on the Eve, then irkin’ the football on the Day. I was invited (as usual) to a games night at a friend’s place, but I guess I ain’t gonna be makin’ it ☹ Oh well, it is double time on the Eve, time’n a half on the Day, and hopefully the party I’m irkin’ at shouldn’t be too bad, being an (expensive) members’ club, and I like the band that’s playing, but there is _gulp_ a free bar. We shall see. Just had Christmas dinner #3 with the Landlord and his sisters plus assorted. I was gonna be all healthy and eat just fresh vegetables and stuff today. Guess I’ll start that tomorrow! He’s a damn good cook though. Nom. ---

We finally got the dog bathed, being that Sah-son slept all day Saturday and I was irking yesterday. That dog is flippin’ crazy. Ever since the time he slid all the way down the steps we have been very careful with him. This time the dog tried to leap down the stairs 2 to 3 steps at a time. Even in his younger days he was not agile. Fortunately Sah-son had a good grip on his harness and was able to slow him down, I think I may be coming down with something. I fell asleep earlier and the shivering kept waking me up. I cannot get warm. ---
