The early morning mass at my church (St Pat’s) was absolutely packed for the patronal feast day and the congregation nearly took the roof off singing \*Hail Glorious Saint Patrick \* at the recessional. On a more secular note, the drinking and carousing already appear to have started at the Irish pub across the road from my office. 🙂 ---

Right now I hate the idea of St. Patrick’s Day. We just got an order yesterday, for tomorrow, for 13 dozen large, iced shamrock cookies. On top of all the other orders for people who know to give a little more notice. I got 'em all baked, but I feel like icing them orange or something. Wish I didn’t work tomorrow, I’d love to go to the parade downtown. Another reason to grumble. But on the other hand I sent a hilarious card to some friends in Idaho, and am waiting for the response. But it’s a fun holiday. It’s even better when it falls on a Sunday, and everyone wears green to church! ---

A: Me! I’ve been to an Irish music performances 4 out of the last 5 days, I’m heading out in a bit to see some friends play, I’ve got concerts lined up for tomorrow and Friday night and as for the weekend, well we’ll just see if I’m alive by then 🙂 FYI to ChiDopers, my short list of St. Patricks day music: Tonight Frank Quinn and Mike Buckley at The Celtic Knot 626 Church st Evanston Paddys day Muck Bros. at the Curragh Gan Bua at Martyrs’ Mucks will meet up with Gan Bua afterwards. Ceili band at Chief O’Neills. Friday Tim O’Shea and Mike O’Connell at the Celtic Knot Mike O’C is an unbelievable piper from Clare who will blow your mind. ---

One of the local TV stations here has a weather phone line service. You can call in and get the date, time, temperature, and a brief weather forecast. So I called in a minute or two ago to find out what the weather was going to be like tonight and tomorrow. The weatherman finished up his little speech by saying, “And a happy St. Patty’s Day to those of you heading into tomorrow.” I suppose those of us who _aren’t_ heading into tomorrow have more important things to think about. Like our wills and funeral arrangements. Or making sure that our time machine doesn’t break down until we can return to the approximate time and place from which we’d come. So, I just thought I’d pass on the weatherman’s sentiments. Have a happy St. Patty’s Day, those of you who are heading into tomorrow. ---

I’d like to note that this is my holiday. My name is Patrick and I will damn well be finding some alcohol to partake in for the evening. St. Patrick’s day is my day. My friend’s birthday may be Cinco de Mayo, but the Irish will whoop those Spaniards any day. PARTY!!! ---
