[Seems that Penultima Thule beat ya to the punch!](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=680152)😛 That being said, I am always saddened by the way that Australia Day somehow gives the bigots and racists carte blanche to be even more vocal and revolting. It seems that as years go on, this media-fueled nationalistic fervour gets more and more toxic. Maybe I’m just noticing it more now thanks to things like Facebook and shit, but fuck it’s depressing. To those of you who identify as Aussies, no matter where you came from, no matter your mastery of the English language and especially Aussie idioms, no matter what deity you hang your coat on each evening, may your Australia Day be safe, happy and may your future be the same. IOW, ignore the fuckheads. 😃 ---

Cheers, I didn’t see Penultima Thule’s thread before I posted, although I do really like the “You know you’re Australian” list. I’m sure it’s law that Burgers have to have beetroot, but somehow the big overseas chains get past that.:mad: ---
