Adding to hijack. Paki is as bad as nigger in this part of the world but your Prez can use it in a press conference as it’s not in the US. So I can understand that different places = different rules. ---

Following that logic, would not a person from Pakistan be a Paki (as in the groups whose land it is?). Are people from Afghanistan Afghanis? ---

I won’t say you’re definitely wrong, but it quite possible that there are Japanese-Americans in your community that do find it offensive. Most Asian-Americans are also not Japanese and so can’t really judge either. ---

It’s almost entirely how it’s used, as opposed to what it means. Pakistan translates a “land of the pure”, but the average BNP’er isn’t using “paki” to call someone Pure. Bandanaman, are you a biker or a weekend warrior? ---
