A lot depends on what kind of campaign Harris wants to run. If she’s planning to be tougher on Israel than Biden was (which I hope she is), a Jewish VP candidate might be just the thing to provide political cover. I give you Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii, who checks the SWM box and has called for the US to halt weapons shipments to Israel. ---

I would be happy with Whitmer or Beshear. I don’t like Newsom either way, but I’d note that Harris and Newsom are both (currently) California residents, and that would create some 12th Amendment complications. I feel like Mayor Pete adds nothing to the ticket. **The 4 I like so far:** - Gretchen Whitmer, is a two woman ticket a problem? But would hopefully deliver Michigan and not hurt in Penn. - Mark Kelly, not a lot of name recognition I think. - Josh Shapiro, might deliver Penn while losing Michigan due to Gaza. - Roy Cooper, can he deliver NC, but not a lot of name recognition I think. Also for me a little old. Under 62 would be best so chance of running in 8 years while under 70. ---
