# Harris VP choice as she is the official presidential nominee of the Democratic Party for 2024

Of those six, only one was elected as a sitting senator. Obama was the first senator elected since Kennedy in 1960, half a century before.

If Harris wins, she’ll be only the third VP elected since the 12th Amendment.

Three were never elected prez.

Governor is a more traditional path, such as Carter, Reagan, and Bush Jr.
