I always remember him as being a band member in _The Glenn Miller Story_ with Jimmy Stewart, and as the shady carny in _State Fair_, who cheats Dick Haymes at a ring-toss game and pisses him off so bad that Dick practices ring-toss all winter in the barn with his mother’s embroidery hoops so he can come back and win the next year. Ha! ---

[He was great as Mr. Hand on “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0604702/board/thread/192041048) Bahahahahaha! Maybe he was starting to lose his faculties in the late 1990s, but I saw him on the 2002 30th reunion special, and he seemed reasonably OK. ---
