I am not at all decided about the best target for today. I certainly don’t want a runaway train on anyone yet, so I am going to even things up until I come to a decision

I believe that actually makes it 4-3, not even, unless I am miscounting.

As usual on Thursdays, I have a morning meeting that is likely to keep me away until after the Day ends. I believe we have two people who have not voted - as far as I am concerned, there is no excuse for not voting at this stage of the game. Get your votes (and reasons!) in, please.

I know it’s not a tie, but it keeps things close enough that we still have to _choose_ as town who goes, rather than it just running away from us.

I liked what **Chipacabra** did (and I think it’ll be useful, if I’m still alive in a couple days), so I’m going to copy him.

1. **Me**. I’m not going to justify any of my actions or inactions here. I know I’m town, so … If you have a problem, speak up – or mull over your suspicions in silence – whatever suits your fancy. [I’m so helpful, aren’t I?]

2. **ShadowFacts**.
WoW featuring posts _I_ find significant, or that might be so in the future (posts not included are Null tells [to me, of course]) and comments.133- Didn’t comment on **Chip’s** prodding vote. Innocuous comments. Null.
144- Calls out **Red** ’s ‘editing error.’ This early in the game, I’m inclined to think town.
152-Insinuates that **Red** was deliberately mis-representing **Chipacabra** ’s reasoning. Votes for \*\*Red. \*\*Awfully early for a bussing, if **Shadow** is also scum. Town.
213- Is suspicious of **Omi** , but doesn’t change his vote. Null
219- Isn’t fond of the **Omi** pile-on, but doesn’t really care if she gets lynched. Null.
284- 2nd vote on **Red**. Null.
330- Argues against doing anything with **Red** ’s claim. Null.
385- FOS **Storyteller**. Null. (Though his lack of vote is slightly odd considering how easily he voted for **Red** , on Day 1. Perhaps that was just because it was Day 1).
390- Votes **pede** (to force explanation/accountability mostly, I suspect). First vote of the day, so Null.
410- Questions **Chronos’** suppos’d PIS. Good time to jump on the bandwagon if he were scum. Town.
459- Justifies his vote for **pede/LPN**. We know LPN was vanilla town, so **pede** was just being silly, as far as I can tell. Null.
479- Thinks **Chronos** is going to flip town. Completely Null at this point in the Day.
518- “Spotlight” on **OAOW** , finding him slightly scummy but only on 1/3 Days. Null.
539/540- “Spotlight” on **Zeriel**. Null. Over all, **ShadowFacts** has been a moderate poster (quantity-wise), but his analyses and votes are firm (even if I don’t agree with all of them) and I don’t see any mischaracterization of others nor opportunistic votes. If you’re scum, **Shadow** , you’re playing a very good game indeed.

3. **One and Only Wanderers**
Same kind of WoW:
174- Asking a clarifying question. Assumes **Chip** meant **Red’s** team was scum (possible PIS, but more likely just a valid assumption). Null.
214/215- Vote for **Omi** with reasoning consistent with others (adding nothing new). I said before that this vote didn’t sit well with me, and it still doesn’t. However, this is much more a gut reaction than anything I can qualify, so: Null.\*
220- Happy to be accountable if **Omi** flips town. Null, I suppose.
221- OAOW will be happy “especially if **Omi** flips scum.” Given the reasons for **Omi** ’s vote on **Chip** if **OAOW** is scum, he shouldn’t be happy. He’s also saying this when it looks like \*\*Omi \*_is going to be lynched. Of course, he wouldn’t say anything other than that, but he could’ve said nothing. Slightly town.
289- Vote for **Red.** Null.
419- Vote for **Chronos**. Weak vote, IMO, but given how many others are doing the same. Null._
466- Before, this post made me think town. My reaction to this was mostly because the post is defensive of another player which is something I think scum wouldn’t do unless that other player is also scum. In thinking this over more, though, null.
520/521- Vote for **Meeko**. Reasonable enough, though it feels a little like he’s just piggy-backing on **Zeriel**. Null. (thoughts, **ShadowFacts**?)
561- Vote for **me**. I’m assuming this means his gut feeling is that **Zeriel** is more townie than me. I, too, don’t like the sudden run on **Zeriel**. Good vote, if he’s scum, though. Null.

\*[@ **Shadow,** mostly]I don’t want to attribute scum motivations for light posts like this; they’re simply unhelpful and don’t add anything. That said, if nothing else comes to light, lynching the less helpful players is best (and I’d put myself on this list, as well).
**OAOW** , in my opinion, is not being very helpful to the town. But, by the same token, he’s done nothing overtly scummy and he helped gather momentum for the Omi vote (and to a lesser extent, Red’s vote).

1. **Jimmy**
WoW (again, featuring posts I think are/will be helpful to me):158- Disagrees with **Shadow** , defends **Skeezix**. This could be construed as scum helping scum however I felt the same way as **Jimmy** , so Null. I’d say town for the fact that if **Red** flips scum (as he did) **Jimmy** would look guilty and no scum would do this. But this is early in the game, well before there is a risk of **Red** being lynched.
206- Votes for **Omi** and does a better job of explaining his vote than **Drain Bead**. Town.
298- Scorn for **pede**. Given that scum like mayhem, I’m inclined to think slightly town.
461- Votes for **ShadowFacts** , not liking his analysis on **pede/LPN**. I still don’t like this vote; I think that **ShadowFacts** ’ case is solid and has some merit, even if I don’t agree. I’m thinking now, though, (given **Jimmy** ’s critiques of me today) that he felt like he needed to vote for someone and didn’t want to hop on the **Chronos** train. This coupled with the fact that he could’ve gotten on said train early leads me to Null.
537- Votes **Zeriel**. Null. **Jimmy** is town to neutral to me, right now. I have agreed with his logic throughout the game and all but the one vote (for **Shadow** ) feel solid to me.

2. **Chipacabra**
Woo! On a roll, now:114- Prodding vote for **Shadow**. Not really helpful, as I see, but certainly not scummy. Null, as are all other prodding votes, at this point in the game.
165- Vote for **Red**. Seems solid enough to me. Null.
168- Quite an act he’s pulling, if both he and **Red** are both scum. Not to mention if they were both scum, I presume **Omi** would’ve found someone else to vote for. Town.
209- Fluff, justifications and thoughts. Null.
288- Vote **Red**. ‘Gut’ justification. Null.
445- Vote **Chronos**. Only cites his Day 1 suspicions (in light of **Red** ’s alliance). Kind of a weak vote, but with everyone on the bandwagon, Null.Based purely on the events in Day 1 and the reveal of \*\*Red \*\*and **Omi** I am fairly confident that **Chipacabra** is town. Based solely on his posts, he would be in the same category as **OAOW**. That is, neither helping nor hindering town.

3. **Inner** **Stickler** 110- Advocates his dislikes lurking (amongst other things). Null
306- Votes **Red** (after claim), so especially null.
310- Is **Red** a bomb? Null.
377- Stay optimistic. Null.
395- ‘catches’ **Chronos**. Given **Chronos’** alignment, this is a null tell at best.
408- Votes for **Chronos**. He’s given **Chronos** a chance to explain and his case is as solid as anything at this point. Null.
Based on the above, **Inner Stickler** is extremely neutral. He hasn’t participated that much (ironic considering his feelings in 110). He started the argument against **Chronos**. I waver between over-eager town and clever scum, in this situation.
I stated before that the way he started the ball rolling with **Chronos** and kind of let others run with it and subsequently voting later, did not sit well with me. Also like I said before, this “he baited everyone!” is very much a gut feeling, however, and I don’t feel comfortable voting solely on this.

4. **Zeriel** 223- Votes for **Omi**. Same vote justification as everyone else and given the likelihood of an **Omi** lynch at this point I think a scummy **Zeriel** would _not_ bus him as the 6th voter. IOW, I agree with **Zeriel** ’s posts today about scum behavior. Null
309- Votes for **Red**. Null, like every other vote on Day 3 for **Red**.
386- Like **OAOW** ’s post 466, this a defensive post towards another player (a player we “know” is town) that I think would be difficult for a scum to write. Am I wrong? Slightly town.
418- Votes **Chronos**. Rather a lazy vote. My impression is that he’s scum going for the easy play or trusting the rest of the townies not to lead him astray. Slightly scummy.
429- Mason strategy argument with **Story**. If scum, he’s fishing for the other role. Given both the obviousness of this, and the strangeness of **Story** ’s claim, this is Null for me. Strategy disagreements in general should be nulls, I think.
517- Votes for **Meeko**. At this point in the game, the reasoning for this vote is as sound as anything. Null.
547- Votes for **me**. He says “purely defensively,” but it is implied that it is because I’ve been lurking. **Zeriel** , assuming vanilla town, should be voting for who he thinks is most scummy and \*not \*just to save his own behind. If he’s non vanilla town, he should have said something by now. So while he justifies his vote against me, he does not explain why he does so over another lurker, which he should have. Slightly scummy. I said above that **Zeriel** is coming across as fairly neutral to me. On reread, this is remains the case up until his vote for me. I see no reason for a (vanilla) townie to make a defensive vote like this. Unless he suspects me to be scum (which he does sort of allude to, but not over another lurker) as a townie he should go down for the team. I don’t want to vote for him just for this _especially_ given that this involves me and as such could be coloring my reasoning.
**Zeriel** also fits in with \*\*OAOW \*\*and **Inner Stickler**.

5. **Guiri**
Whew, almost done. WoW:176- Slight arguing with **Chipa** about flinching. Personally, I agree, but this is a null.
216- Votes for **Omi**. Solid reasoning (same as everyone else’s). Null.
292- Helpful post. Null
303- Votes **Red**. I was looking forward to the re-review. Oh well. Null.
388- Another helpful post. Null.
435- Votes for **Chronos** , same reasoning as everyone else.
522- WoW on **Meeko** with comments and questions. Doesn’t follow his previous pattern of voting at this point of a pile-on. Null.
544- WoW on **Zeriel**.Overall, **Guiri** is neutral. On re-read of just his posts, he appears to be doing more than he actually is by taking observations and analyses of others and fleshing them out. This is not a bad thing; they are useful. The only reason I bring it up is that I hadn’t noticed it just reading along and my general impression of **Guiri** was higher than it should’ve been. (Sorry if this seems like I’m slighting you, **Guiri** , I suppose I am, but I want others to be aware if they also hadn’t noticed.)

```
9. **Storyteller**
Gone Day 1
```

286- shares his thoughts and impressions. Null
305- Obvious (am I great at hindsight, or what?) vote for **Red**. Null
424- Votes for **Chronos**. Weak case, like everyone else’s, in my opinion. Given **Story** ’s virtually confirmed status, I’m going to have to break my promise to **Chronos** about looking hard at **Story**.
Like everyone else, I find **Storyteller** ’s timing for his claim to be bizarre and with the lack of counter-claim feel he is town.

I should mention that I had formed notions about the alliance of most players before writing all the above and I’m sure it is affecting my rationale. I tried to be as objective as possible, but as I was writing the comments, it was difficult for me. That said, everyone knows this as I’m sure they do the same thing so I’m not entirely sure what the point of the last two sentences were. Or that one.

**--------**
So, by my reckoning, \*\*Storyteller, ShadowFacts, Chipacabra, \*\*and **Jimmy** are town.
\*\*Guiri **is very neutral to me, and** Zeriel, OAOW, \*\*and **Inner Stickler** are neutral bordering on anti-town or scummy behaviors.

Given that
a) Of those the three, the majority of voters are vying for a \*\*Zeriel \*\*lynch, and
b) he’s the only one out of all 8 other players I actually noted for scummy behavior, and
c) “If it is a tie….well, there is a plan in place for that, but I would not worry about it yet. Tie if you want to, but don’t whine about it if you don’t like what happens.” \<– **Maha** , post 2.

Seriously, 2 seems most likely, but this game is plenty weird.

Well, no, you’re not. “I’m not going to justify any of my actions or inactions here?” Well, OK then. I guess that settles that! What are we to do with you, then, for the rest of the game? Just kind of let you do what you want and never question it or you? Because you’re disinclined to offer a defense or explanation? This is a really strange post.

\<lots of snipping in the above\> “I, too, don’t like the sudden run on Zeriel.” OK. Noted. I’ll keep that in mind for a few minutes.

1. **Inner** **Stickler** 110- Advocates his dislikes lurking (amongst other things). Null

Here’s the one that really earns my vote, though:

> [@](#):

What? Why not?

> [@](#):
>
> Unless he suspects me to be scum (which he does sort of allude to, but not over another lurker) as a townie he should go down for the team.

_What?_ Why? Why should he “go down for the team?” If he’s Town then he doesn’t know _what_ you are. If he’s Town, then from his perspective, _any_ player who has not claimed a power role is a better lynch than he, himself. [If he’s town] he is 100% sure that his own lynch is a mislynch; even if he’s only 10% suspicious of you, a defensive vote still betters his odds. This is terrible reasoning.

> [@](#):
>
> I don’t want to vote for him just for this _especially_ given that this involves me and as such could be coloring my reasoning.

And yet you do. This whole thing where you say you don’t like the train on Zeriel and you don’t want to vote for him just for the evidence you have and then wham at the end of your post you vote for him? Very strange.

I agree with this post, and endorse the sentiment within. I am suspicious of Guiri in part for this reason. I think he’s poking and asking questions in his usual way, but without his usual direction and focus - the fact that he devoted energy (albeit modest energy) to quizzing me earlier toDay seems like a (deliberate) distraction from the actual business of the Day (what difference does it make _why_ I chose to kill Meeko, in the end, given that I am confirmed? All it did was fill up space and cause me to spend game time typing a response rather than Scum hunting). In fact, the more I consider it, the more I’d rather see Guiri hang than Hardly. But I’d rather see Hardly hang than Zeriel; hence my current vote.

This bugs me A LOT. In your opinion, everyone’s case against **Chronos** was weak, eh? So why didn’t you mount a defense of him when it actually mattered? Say, around your post at #476, where you said:

> [@](#):
>
> On preview, Chronos, if you flip town, I will look at Storyteller because, as I said above, I do think his case against you is kind of week and I think his analysis convinced/confirmed a bunch of votes towards you. Having said that, I see no pressing reason not to lynch you (since nobody\* is really all that suspicious to me) and I think we will gain a little bit of info if we do. Sorry to see you go.

This all strikes me as terribly Scummy. Right before a player dies, you offer a mealy-mouthed critique of the case against him - but no particularly detailed defense or argument against that case, just a vague characterization. Then you do the “if Chronos flips Town, we should look closely at X” routine, which is an old favorite of mine from games gone by. Then, long after the lynch has already happened, you strike a pose of “oh, that was a terrible case and I knew it all along.”

Now we’re tied. Someone’s going to have to break the tie, and I hope we can learn something from who does it, and how.

I would appreciate if you could go over the bit about me again. You have me quoted as saying something I never said. What was your intent here?

I’m in an all-day meeting today–fortunately I think I’ve said all I need to in my defense.

It’s all quoted from Hardly Sanguine. The sentence in question was something Hardly said, as part of a paragraph with your name as its header.

Early votes on two townies with slim reasoning, both times following someone else’s case. The other thing about those votes is that they’re…not sure how to put this…easy votes. That’s not the right term. What I mean is this: They are the kind of vote you can point to and say “Look, he did something really obviously scummy right there - Vote!” In Chronos’ case it was supposedly Perfect Information Syndrome, in Meeko’s it was seemingly contradicting himself. When I’ve played scum, those were the kinds of semi-legit things I would look for to hang a vote on.

I disagree a little with the conclusions that you draw. I think with the benefit of hindsight, we can pretty much call any rationale that leads to voting for a townie an easy vote. I mean, what happens tomorrow if it turns out Zeriel was town? Someone couls make a case against you saying that yes, zeriel’s vote record was poor but it’s an easy vote. The trick, it seems to me, is deciding which easy voting reasons were made by scum and which are townies.

**Vote Shadowfacts** because I don’t like this post but I’m not sure if I’ve adequately explained it or if it’s gibberish.

\*\*The crowd gathered slowly around Zeriel, the selected target for the Order of the Phoenix’s kill.

“Wait! Please don’t! It’s not my fault! I haven’t killed anyone!” cried Zeriel.

“Still, we don’t care much for people with ideas or thoughts anymore,” said one wizard with a blank look on his face.

They encircled Zeriel. They raised their wands and cried together:

AVADA KEDAVRA!

Zeriel dropped dead.

And he did not morph at all. He was who they thought he was.

Zeriel, who was Remus Lupin, is dead. He was a member of the Order of the Phoenix and had no additional powers beyond daily voting for the lynch.

It is now Night Five. Day Six will begin on Saturday at Noon Eastern.
