# Harry Turtledove: Master of Alternative History?

I hear tell he has four (count them, four) daughters in undergrad and is writing up a storm to pay the bills. **Guns of the South** was a novel novel and the best of the lot. I read many of the others, but I cannot say he is a good writer.

The one he co-authored with Richard Dreyfuss, _The Two Georges_, is one of my favorite books of all time.

I like em a bunch. His stand alones are very good, but I also like the overarching huge series. Nobody would call them great literature, but they’re a great way to unwind from class.

Also - the first of his WWII books in the Timeline-181 stuff is available for download through Stanza on the iPod Touch if anybody cares.
