You really nailed it. _Anything_ the Right works hard to demonize is a liability. They’re propaganda is fact for nearly half tbe country and sets the terms of debate for about 3/4ths of the country. The specifics of whether we’re discussing AA or marginal tax rates or taxing hourly wage overtime or restoring effective OSHA oversight in the workplace is immaterial. Stopping the RW demonization machine is a prereq to the Ds having _any_ policy that’s not a liability. ---

As a AA proponent I would like to say that it is unfair that Blacks in America have achieved total employment because 85% of the 500 to 600 NBA players are Black. And I won’t mention the races of the owners. ---

I think it was something that some people genuinely believed in and pursued contrary to public opinion, not something that was some popular vote-getter. California recently voted, by 14 points, against repealing its constitutional ban on affirmative action. ---
