About 20 years ago G. Harry Stine wrote an article for Analog magazine called _The Three Dolphin Club_ (I think, it has been 20 years). In it he stated his sources in NASA told him that experiments have been conducted. He did have sufficient ties to the space community to be plausible. He did not name names and he is dead so we can’t ask him. It is possible that he was joking.

If you were a married astronaut and got the only chance of your life to go to Mars, but you knew there was a snowball’s chance in hell to have sex with another person on that mission, would that deter you? Anyone else want to chime in on that?

No you said “basic human need” - I took that to mean what you’d need to survive for long periods of time.

The original question wasn’t about masturbation, and you know it. Neither was I referring to masturbation. We were talking about sex between two people. You’re switching key terms in the middle of the discussion.

My problem with your previous post wasn’t the question of whether sex is “likeable” or “entertainment” but rather your statement that it was a “basic human need”. I didn’t see the word “entertainment” in there.

Please don’t put words into my mouth and then make it personal. You said “basic human need” not “basic human pleasure” and that was the issue I had. Now you’re changing terms, hoping people won’t notice.

As for your olympics example, it’s a logical fallacy to try to use that to wiggle out of your word choice - I stick to my original view on the matter.

Or joining the Almost-Two-Hundred-Mile-High Club.

Psht, maybe it’s just noone’s told Mr. Blabbermouth Chiao. Meanwhile, all the popular astronauts are smoking pot and necking behind the bleachers.

But as for people not rubbing off for months on the ISS… impossible. Heck, if you don’t do it that long, you’ll just start doing it in your sleep.
