Has anyone here done a full rosacea treatment with a dermatologist?

Aeschines, you say it’s self-diagnosed, so why not go see a dermatologist and get a formal diagnosis?

I mention this because I’ve had some pretty awful skin conditions and they all turned out to be contact dermatitis–and the conditions didn’t look alike.

I have twice ended up at hospital dermatology emergency clinics (yes, I was surprised they exist). Also, I ended up in a traditional emergency room (allergic reaction to sulfa drugs). This doesn’t include the usual visits just to see a dermatologist. None of the outbreaks resembled anything I’d ever had before, even though I’ve had contact dermatitis repeatedly

Jumping right to rosacea may be borrowing trouble. Get checked out by a board certified dermatologist and be sure. You may find you’re allergic to something simple.

Back when I was having symptoms, there wasn’t any diagnostic test for Rosacea. The doctor would look at it and say, “yep, could be rosacea or Seborrhoeic dermatitis.” I’d ask, “how do you know which one it is?”. His response, “we only know by what drugs it responds to.”

So there wasn’t any diagnostic test that could confirm rosacea. Has that changed in the last years? Is there now a test that confirms rosacea?

Thanks,
J.

Whatever happened here? Did op get a dx of rosacea?

Reported.
