So I guess a number of random red dots on my fat gut means nothing more than random red dots on my fat gut?
There’s apparently a lot of variation in people’s reaction. Some people get the giant, horrible welts that **Mississippienne **describes, some people get no reaction whatsoever, and most fall somewhere in between.
Had them, staying in a tropical bungalow, in Bali. They never bit my husband. I thought they were really annoying mosquito bites, all in a row. Finally someone told me what they were and said to show the bungalow owner, which I did. Next day, at high noon, they came took both mattresses and put them out in the hot tropical sun for several hours, turning them occasionally. Worked like a charm, no chemicals required!
Oh…OH! Dagnabit, that musta been what they were, elbows! Staying in Bali, my husband was constantly sporting big itchy red welts (about twice the diameter of mosquito bites), *especially *first thing in the morning. Me…nothing. We never knew what exotic tropical insect was feasting on him. I bet it was bedbugs!
I have very little (not none, but little) reaction to mosquitos. Guess my immune system doesn’t overreact to bedbug spit, either. Cool!
We’ve been careful about not bringing them into the house. When I go shopping for clothes or other cloth items everything gets either run through a dryer or baked in the oven (I don’t have a washer and dryer in the house any longer so sometimes baking is the only option if the laundromat is closed at the time) and we keep an eye on the bed bug registry to try and be careful not to go places that have recently reported infestations. If we ever do find them in the apartment everything will be covered in DE for a month or so to get rid of them.
This makes me think of the Daily Shows bit about Bedbugs
Or the Ms Rosalini’s short can be seen in full (if you are brave) here
Friend had them in her quite nice apartment in Denver (Arvada actually). She brought them in from a bit of a run down hotel near a hot spring.
She ended up getting rid of all her water bed bedding, and I’m sure some other stuff. It took the exterminator 3-4 trips to get it done.
I was afraid to spend any time in her apartment. Didn’t want my suitcase or clothes to get infested. I ended up getting a hotel when I visited.
