Has anyone read every single.....

To be fair to the board, they did include two of the greatest science-fiction novels of the 20th century: 1984 and Brave New World. They definitely fall under the appelaton of science fiction, and they fit even better under the slightly broader term of speculative fiction.

Of course, I would have included Forever War, but that’s just me.

If you can only count the ones you’ve finished, I’ve read 7 on the first list and 19 on the second. I’ve seen the movie for a few more, and started and gave up on several more. And a book has to be seriously dull or depressing for me to give up on it.

Ooooh, ooooh, I just saw what you said! I loved that book. It was the first grown-up science fiction book I ever read. I was blown away. That began a long love-affair with science fiction.

Just seven for me on the board’s list, and twelve on the reader’s list (thanks to RAH and Tolkien - can we count LotR as three books?).

I’m surprised there were no Robert Jordan Wheel of Time books listed (I’ve never read them, but hear they’re good), and given the obviously Scientological presence, I’m amazed at the absence of the Tim Lahaye/Jerry Jenkins Left Behind series.

Me? I’ll stick to re-reading Starship Troopers

I’ve read 8 on the real list (and currently working on another on the list - additionally, every single one of them is on my reading list), and 15 on the drunk list. Some of the stuff on that list is good, but a lot is just trashy airplane reading. I mean, Laurel Hamilton? She writes vampire slaying novels! Really, that list makes me kind of sad.

I’ve only read seven of the ones on the Board’s list, and 14 on the reader’s list.
