In the pregnancy/childbirth book I have, there are three books recommended as “sex after children” resources.

\*Great Sex for Moms: Ten Steps to Nuturing Passion While Raising Kids

Confessions of a Naughty Mommy: How I Found My Lost Libido

Sexy Mamas: Keeping Your Sex Life Alive While Raising Kids\*

Have any Doper Ladies read one or more of these books? What did you think of them?

Thanks!

(In the SDMB, no one can see you blush.)

No, but I might have to be picking one up. I’ll have to go check them out the next time I’m at the book store. That will probably be when the next Harry Potter book comes out, that should be an interesting purchase.

To bad they’re not selling those vibrating broomsticks anymore. 😉

Sooooooo, has any one read these books or knows of similar material?

Bump. Not a Doper lady, but we survived two kids and my wife wrote a syndicated column on this very subject.

You don’t need to buy any books. The secret is twofold.

first - get enough help so you’re not exhausted.
Second, create time to be alone. This can be dumping the kid at the grandparents, swapping babysitting with friends,
Third, when you are alone in your house, don’t look at what needs to be done for a few hours.
Fourth, accept that it won’t be the same until kid goes away to college.

For our first kid, we used grandparents. By the second, my wife taught at a school for nannies, which involved having a nanny stay with you, and, at the end of the term, do a significant amount of childcare. We used this to run off to New York for weekends.

BTW, all is not bad. There comes a time, not long after birth, when kids go to sleep at 7 or 8 pm and sleep all night. It’s just like not having a kid.

I can’t imagine how anyone could fill up a book with this stuff.

Thank you. I bought a copy of _Confessions of a Naughty Mommy_ today. Not sure what to expect, from the introduction, sounds like the author was very adventurous and passionate _before_ kids. My fair-to-poor libido may not fit into her scheme. We’ll see.

Right now, our love life boils down to this:
Mouse\_Spouse: Ohhhhh! You have bigger boobs.
Me: Ah! Honey, please don’t touch them.
Followed by pouting on both sides. ☹

Pointless rant: I know I’m very vanilla. I spend a lot of time reading about positions, breathing techniques, how to spice up a blow job, what can camouflage body parts I’m self conscious about (a dark room, though I will not rule out burka sex), and what sort of toys do what to what bits. Why is being boring so damn difficult?

Years ago I saw a great book, titled something like “sex after mariage and child”. As the joke goes, the book is empty, lots of blank pages.

Well, one during the summer…

My wife also ran the placement program for the school, so she decided which nanny we got.

One term we got their only male nanny. :dubious:

One big problem is being concerned if the kid hears - even if the kid is 2. Getting in the flow is not easy if every second someone says “she moved.” Baby monitors are useful for helping to know for sure the kid is asleep.

Though it was really tough convincing our 15 year old why the monitor had to stay in her room. 😃
