My coworker’s husband watches it all the time. The thing I don’t get is, he’s not stupid, at all. But he swallows everything they say without any filters. And to make matters worse, my coworker has been watching too. No one has even mentioned the shutdown at work, and I don’t intend to be the one. ---

Oh, right - “I was only asking a question!” The classic defense of someone who refuses to admit they were trying to make the other side look bad when the faults of their own side are put on display rather than address those faults. As far as bitterness and animosity, I’m actually laughing at you - not really upset at all. I probably won’t even remember your user name until the next time you post something dumb. Open-minded? Hey, I’m perfectly willing to believe you’re not nearly as stupid as your posts in this thread make you seem. Otherwise, I’m not even sure what you’re talking about - am I supposed to look at the examples of Fox News’s fucked-up behavior offered in this thread and think, “Well, maybe there’s a nonpartisan explanation for these things?” Because if that’s the definition of “open-minded” you’re using, I guess I fail that test. I do like the whole “Keep cussing and playing the alpha male; I’m above such childishness” bit at the end, though. That shit’s always good for more laughs. ---

I’m not sure he’s actually watching it (I don’t know for fact since I am still asleep while this is going on) because he is also reading the paper. I think the first time I was sure that Fox News was absolutely, irrevocably, irrationally partisan was back in the 2008 elections and the “Terrorist Fist Bump” incident. It took me a while to realize they were actually serious.
