# Has the use of formula feeding contributed to the national obesity

In addition to what tracer said, I just read something else about allergies.

They’re just poking around the possibility now that the use of antibiotics is contributing to the rise in asthma, allergies, etc. Their prevalance coincides, although that’s not what they’re basing the theory on. They’re doing some studies now which show that the use antibiotics creates some meaningful long-term changes in the composition of the flora in the gut, and that this might increase allergic reactions.
