# Has there ever been a less appetizing food item than Taco Bell's new black taco?

I was watching football this afternoon and saw an ad that I thought was a parody. I mean, a black taco? WTF? I suppose their lipstick-red Volcano Taco paved the way for food in non-food colors, but come on Taco Bell!

It looks like a blue corn tortilla shell, and since I eat blue corn tortilla chips all the time, it doesn’t look bad to me at all (well, as Taco Bell items go…)

It doesn’t look black, it looks brown, and it looks pretty good. I don’t really eat that stuff but if I were drunk I wouldn’t give it a thought. The dark brown color looks hearty and healthy, as if it were jam-packed to the brim with whole grains, nutrients and minerals.

I saw it and I agreed, it looks gross. It looks darker than blue corn in the pictures, and generally unappetizing (one should not think of black when thinking of tacos). Regardless, that place just really seems to be scraping the bottom of the barrel with their new food ideas. Do they seriously need a “new” menu item every week? [This Onion story](http://www.theonion.com/content/node/31955) is less satirical and more true with every “new” item they introduce…

Well, I _am_ drunk, and I vote nasty. Not that I’m a racist or anything. I think a taco is a terrible thing to waste. (Just, I wouldn’t eat that one.)

I wonder if they still sell that round thing. I don’t know what it’s called, I just ask for that round thing and usually get it. Though they may surprise me someday and give me another kind of round thing.

Just FYI, there are both black and red varieties of corn. Not saying that’s what they use, but they are out there.

It does look bad. However, I think the trophy for least appetizing fast food item of all time is still held by KFC’s Big Bowl of Glop. The commercials made that look revolting. (And by “revolting” I mean “regurgitated”.)

Yeah, that KFC bowl had a good idea, but then they added stuff that just didn’t belong in it. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy all in one bowl is probably great. Adding in corn and I forget what else was overkill.
I haven’t seen the new commercial for a black taco. I’ve quit watching Taco Bell commercials. I used to like Taco Bell. I don’t know whether I’ve matured or they’ve gotten worse, but I can’t stand Taco Bell food any more. Every now and then I think that I’d like to get some of their tacos, and then I remember the last time I got some of their food, and how sick I was afterwards.

What the hell were those guys thinking anyway? Did they pull items from a hat to decide what would go in the bowl?
Anyway, does TB have a selling point for this taco other than: “Hey! It’s black!”?
