Trump is down with covid, and presumably many tens of millions of people around the world are hoping he dies. It would be beautiful, poetic justice. Has any person been this hated since Hitler and Stalin? Even Bin Laden was more popular. If you believe in thoughts and prayers, please ask for a excruciating, merciless death for him. ---

True, but it’s a bit unfair, since Trump has killed almost 100 times more Americans. (OK, that’s hyperbole. Probably only 50 times more.) ---

I don’t wish death on him. Or even physical misery and suffering. I’m fine with him being incapacitated for a couple weeks and for it to be vividly plain that it was a serious sickness and that his survival was in serious doubt for awhile. That should be sufficient to put paid to “no big deal, it’s like the flu” and “hoax” and so forth. Reinforcing a sense of his frailty and having him sidelined for a good chunk of the remaining campaign season is just gravy. Oh, I think he is deserving of certain forms of misery, don’t get me wrong, but I tend to think watching his structure crumble in flames around him will give him a good dose of that. ---

What if Trump gets really sick, on a ventilator and actually dies on election day. Late in the day. Say he wins. What happens? Will Pence be penciled in. Or does death forfeit the republican win and it goes to Biden? Hmmmm? ---

Short answer: Pence would be the Vice President elect and would assume the Presidency. Just like if Trump died this week or if they were re-elected and Trump died next year. ---

It’s pretty hilarious that right-wingers cheer on Kyle Rittenhouse crossing state lines to shoot people, create laws allowing people to run over protestors, defend black people being shot for ‘non-compliance’ with police officers, carry protest signs saying that the weak should die for the sake of the economy, and a host of other things. But as soon as people wish for the man responsible for the atrocious pandemic response to suffer what he’s inflicted on plenty of Americans (including the over 200,000 dead), they’re the insensitive ones! What’s next, going to parrot the claim that there must be some Democratic operatives spreading Covid to high-ranking Republicans, because it can’t just be a coincidence that they’re all getting sick at the same time! I’m not wishing for Trump to die, but I admit that his death at this time would add a final juicy bit of kick-the-applecart-over chaos that was kind of the dream of electing him in the first place. ---

I’m already coming back in my next life as something like an enema bag, so I’m happy to go on record as saying that I don’t necessarily wish for 45’s death, but I’d dance a little over some suffering, and residua would not break my heart. If he ended up on oxygen for the rest of his life, as a constant reminder any time he was photographed for the press, I’d dance a little more. (I can say that in The Pit, right?) In answer to the OP’s question, though, “the czar,” whoever it may have been at any given time, was pretty well hated-- so much that in Yiddish literature written 20 years after the Bolshevik revolution, “the czar” is still paramount evil. My grandmother was born in 1917, in Slovakia, not even in Russia, and she still used to curse “the czar” when she got good and mad. Non-Jews who had to deal with the czar weren’t crazy about him either. What happened to Nicholas II was what had been wished on any given czar. (That’s pretty much factual, not political. I personally have no opinion on the Romanovs at this point that I wish to express, 103 years after theirs deaths.) ---
