Has your dental work forced you to give up certain foods & drinks?

Unfortunately, now that I have a crown, I have had to give up my favorite candy ever, the venerable Now and Later. I’ve been told I don’t have any restrictions, but until they specifically test dental cement against Now and Laters, I don’t believe it. Those things can yank your regular teeth right out of their sockets.

+1

Add to that: I still have my wisdom teeth :p.

Dental visits are non-existent, just like doctor visits. I guess it’s true what they say: “apple a day…”. It must also work for anyone who wears a white coat,…wait, why are you guys here…I’m not crazy…help!

When I had my braces on (and to a lesser extent, this still applies to me because I have permanent bonded retainers behind my top & bottom teeth) I generally had to avoid eating hard fruits & vegetables such as apples or corn on the cob - without cutting them up first - due to the fact that doing so could’ve caused my brackets to pop off.

A few months ago I had some soft tissue grafts done & I had to avoid eating anything hard for the better part of a week. Similarly, I had to be extremely careful with how I was eating after I had my wisdom teeth removed (almost two years ago now) in order to prevent food from getting lodged in the empty tooth sockets & to allow them to properly heal; that entire process of selective eating, though, lasted for probably half a year & not a mere matter of weeks.

No fun.

Can’t eat raw carrots any more. Off most really-crunchy foods at all until I get a crown done in January.

I love super sour kids candy.
I love gummy bears (Haribo, the only proper gummy bear)
I enjoy chewing on Jolly Rancher candies
I delight in chomping down on Charms blow pops

I have been tapering off these activities over the past few years. My teeth had so many hairline cracks that the sour candy would seep in and sensitize things. My dentist eventually put four crowns on my bottom molars (nice pretty white crowns, though), and I figure the day is coming when I will need four equally nice crowns for the top molars.

Beaucoup $$$

Yup. I have a nice matched set of four crowns, one on each side top and bottom, second from the back.

I ain’t never been to the dentist since Jimmy Carter was in charge.

You don’t wanna see the state of my teeth, but then I’m from Scotland , where going to the
dentist is for rich people and Gays.

Perpetuating the stereotype, eh?

Voted yes, though it’s my lack of needed dental work that has forced me to give up several foods.
