And this has what to do with the OP? Oh, that’s right, nothing. Open your own damn thread if your pissed about what you cited.
I had to jump back in (lurking all the while of course) about the Motley Crue CD that came out a couple years ago. If anyone can tell me how to do the umlauts, much appreciation will be rained on you
I bought the new MC CD back in '01 or '02 at Wal-Mart. The one with Tommy signing a shitty song to his kid about how much he loved Pam. :smack:  :wally  (Fuck, there just isn’t a big enough variety)
Anyway, I got in the car, tore it open and put it in the CD drive. Halfway home, I noticed there were a LOT or silent pauses. Before leaving the car when I got home, I replayed the first 2 songs. It was all edited. I took it back and was asked by the Customer Service chick why I wanted to return it.
I told her it was an edited copy of the album and I never agreed to buy such a product. See, I never knew Wal-Mart sold only (mostly) edited albums. Well, I got shit because the CD was opened. All I wanted was my money back to get the unedited album. This was a problem. Since the CD-seal was broken, I was screwed.
And you people thought I was an unabashed Wal-Mart apologist. Sometimes the story goes deeper than a post or two.
I called for a manager on the Motley Crue CD, as I wanted my money back to go elsewhere to buy the CD I expected. I wanted unedited Crue! It was, I found, a shitty CD anyway
Anyway, I took the receipt and CD back to Wally World around 11 that night and asked for my money back. The Customer Service counter was closed so I had to hit one of the cashier lines.
The cashier was totally lost. She was maybe 17 and part-time (you can tell) and didn’t know what the hell to do. She insisted that since the CD was opened there was NOTHING she could do. Without talking to anyone, that was what she could do. NOTHING!
Talk about a power trip!
Of course, having more than six neurons firing at once (no matter what some may say!) I asked for a manager. I asked the manager why there was no mention that the CD was edited. She said it was store policy that all CD’s we’re edited for language content.
I asked where it was stated as such in the CD department. She said it was corporate policy and implicit. Since there was no “parental warning” it was implied that the albums were edited. (Parental Warning, pit rant forming. I’m 31 fucking years old!)
After 20 minutes of back-and-forth I got my money back, stopping just short of (dangerously close to) physical action.
This was a few years ago and I forgot about it until I was told I defend Wal-Mart no matter what. I said I was staying out of the thread, but I refuse to stand down while people want to try to bash me for views they ‘think’ I hold.
If Wal-Mart goes tits-up tomorrow it won’t rock my world. I’ll just hit K-mart or Target. But my newest find for deals is Big Lots. I’m more easy-going than many may think.
