A pshrink/meddling social worker is a pshrink/meddling social worker, period. I despise such sanctimonious do-gooders on general principle. And FTR, I have a lot more respect for someone able to deduce the reasons behind people’s behavior from their own training, experience, and intelligence than from supposedly hereditary psychic power, however diluted it may be. That said, I was always in awe of her spectacular rack and was disappointed when they finally covered it up. ☹ ---

FWIW, she now uses the same accent when playing the role of MOSSAD chief on NCIS. (I originally thought she was in fact Israeli; imagine my shock when I heard her real voice on some talk show.) ---

I also seriously doubt the mental health of 24th century humanity when it actually requires such pshrinks/meddling social workers to keep a starship functioning properly. Weren’t these people subjected to mandatory psychological screening before being accepted for such duty? :dubious: ---

I think the other women there put up her cuz she tells them which guys are horny and play. Captain P., he plays around mostly with Bev. and an occasional Alien. But I’m sure Deanna has at least blown him if anything. Data, he’s just another toy for her… keeps going and going and going. ---

Is there any evidence whatsoever for Troi sleeping with anyone other than Riker or Worf? Or, you know, for even having any inclination to? Obviously there were plenty of men who wanted to sleep with her, but being desired doesn’t make someone a slut. ---

What’s the inside Star Trek story of how the character of Guinan developed? She starts out as just some stunt casting for Whoopi Goldberg, but by the end she has completely kneecaped Troi. Did Marina Sirtis not realize or care what was being done to her character? If I were Sirtis’ agent, I’d be pretty pissed that good character-building scenes were consistently going to a guest star with effectively the same role as my client. ---

You’re saying there was more than one such episode? :dubious: In the one I’m thinking of, she’s confused because she doesn’t “sense much” from the dude … it’s almost like he’s “blank.” She tells him this while they’re in bed together, naked. In every other respect, she hasn’t changed a bit, certainly not that I recall. ---

Actually, in our world, I’m not sure something like that _would_ end with a call to HR’s office, as long as you weren’t making your own underlings the objects of your lust (and I’m reasonably sure that Troi is above Barclay in the chain of command, and on a different branch, so that wouldn’t be an issue). ---
