Have any US states never been involved in a war?

It’s somewhat like saying ‘the US’ won the 7 yrs War (French and Indian War) in North America. A lot of those troops were from the soon seceding colonies.

But ‘Canada burned the WH’ is more ridiculous because that operation, the raids around Chesapeake Bay, depended entirely on the Royal Navy for control of the sea.

IME Canadians don’t have to be ‘radically patriotic’ to mouth this nonsense. It’s as was said part of your mythology.

If the Cold war counts, then that’s all of them.

Also the fact the actual troops who did the campaign who burned down the White House were all from England based regiments who had just got done fighting against Napoleon. You might as well say Australia burned down the White House as well.

Since we’ve drifted pretty deep here on that bit…: where was the President and his family during this bit of unpleasantness?

At that time, the Colonies were called “Canada East” and “Canada West.”
The British/Canadian forces were also aided by First Nations warriors and trackers.
Although the troops were “British,” we were already known as “Canadians.”

P.S. That’s one of the first wars that America lost.

Pardon my error.
The colonies were still known as Upper Canada and Lower Canada.
Imagine my embarrassment!

Yes but Canada burned down the White House as much as Canada liberated the Phillipines in World War 2.

Pretty much the whole city was evacuated. Here’s an article on what Dolly Madison did at the time. They also got most government records out, which was a good thing, since it wasn’t just the WH that was burned.

Apparently a tornado struck the city while the British were still there. And speaking of tornados, everyone should be careful about dissing Canadians. They can be real badasses
