Have guns ever been confiscated in America?

I agree. In fact I would say that guns are not a solution to the majority of problems (if any). But guns can ratchet up the pressure on the establishment to rethink policies if lots of people are getting shot. For instance, the deaths of innocents we have had in no-knock raids over the last few years have gotten this policy on the front page. Another example are the several police that have been killed by people thinking they were being burgled. If this gets too common, the pressure on our police forces to knock it off may rise to a level where they have an effect.
