The Doper Elite does not exist. I suggest you stop talking about it. People have been know to have . . . .bad luck when discussing the Doper Elite, which doesn’t exist. Just some friendly advice. ---

I like to think of friendship on the SDMB as sort of an opt-out feature. Unless you check the little box on the reply card that says, _No Thanks, not interested_ I’ll count you on my friend list. :😁: Great, now I’m going to be inundated with business reply cards. ---

**Ryan** , [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=157158) might just be an example of a thing that will not increase your popularity. If you’ve sent an e-mail (especially an unsolicited e-mail of a private nature), you might want to let the recipient have a day or two to respond. After that, if there is no response, dropping a quick line “Did you see my e-mail?” into a thread where they are active is probably permissible, but calling them out on the MB in a special thread might be just a bit intrusive. Just something to consider. ---

I’ve been on the SDMB for fnord years and I can assure you that the Doper Elite does not fnord exist. Why, that’s like suggesting that some secret kind of cabal, like, I don’t know, the friggin’ Illuminati controls everything fnord! [sub]but just between you and me I think there’s a _secret forum_ that only the elite are allowed to post in[/sub] Anyway, get it out of your head. There is no Doper Fnord Elite. ---
