Have I mentioned lately how much I hate "manufactured demand?"

Those are trivialities. Let’s see some real predictions.

Fuck you, no. The OP is about Manufactured Demand, and I have spoken at length about it. You don’t get to wander into a thread and tell everyone what the thread is REALLY about, and restrict responses as a result. I am perfectly on topic with my posts, and I will not shut up.

The quotes you provided were factual in nature and were in direct reference to Cat Whisperers idea that the money only went into the pockets of the rich. They were not dodges of anything, and you damn well know it. Try again.

I think you mean “generalities”, since the consequences are about as far from trivial as you can possibly get. And do you think they’re wrong? If so, why?

Yes, I’ll admit I’m a bit dismissive towards the idea that I’m supposed to take time away from work on a busy day to defend myself against your strawman.

You won’t respond to an idea which is central to the idea of the OP, and mistakenly accuse me of hijacking? Why are you even here? The only thing you’ve contributed to this thread is “I can spend my money how I want.” Awesome. Granted. Now, can we talk about some of the broader implications of that philosophy on a social scale? Perhaps something a bit more in-depth than “It let’s me buy fish sticks and tater tots for my kids”? Geesh. Thanks ever so fucking much.

This degree of disingenuity is appalling. Anyone can see that your snarky responses were nakedly dismissive of the larger topic.

Since this is the 3rd time you’ve misquoted me, I can only assumed you are seriously confused. I’ve said nothing of the sort.

More bullshit. Sarahfeena & I were responding to a specific idea that was raised by the same person who started this thread. You got bitch slapped by Sarahfeena & thought you’d cover that up by ranting and raving about how the topic wasn’t near enough or dear enough to your heart. Then you told us to shut up.

Bolding mine.

I really am not getting into this debate, but I thought the juxtaposition of these two statements is hilarious.

I would have had to attribute a quote to you in order to misquote you. Since I have not done that, I’ll just assume you’re huffing gasoline again. What I did was (correctly) interpret a snotty comment by you. It’s not my fault you’re too craven to own up to it.

The quote you responded to by CW was part of a response to my post #76, which, by the way, bears directly on the question. See? On topic.

Let me guess. You’re a marketer. You are, aren’t you?

I did that on purpose. Just being a smart ass.

But DO people want fire that can be fitted nasally?

I seem to recall something about a translation of a 3,000 year old Sumerian law regarding the accuracy of advertisements for slave sales, but I can’t find it now. But it just adds to the evidence that for as long as people have existed, we’ve lied to each other about the value of what we’re trying to trade away.

Of course, you aren’t bright enough to actually provide this mysterious comment, are you? I won’t hold my breath.

More spinning. It was in a post that also replied to you (in a separate paragraph), but had nothing to do with anything you said. I repeat, we were responding to the specific assertion that the money only went into the pockets of the rich. Full stop.

Not even close.

Yes, “generalities” is probably a better term. I don’t think they’re wrong, just obvious, and uninteresting. It’s like predicting that tomorrow the sun will rise. True, but not helpful.

Siiiiiigh. You’re trolling me. I’ve already referenced this several times, thinking you might one day learn to work the internets, but since you want chapter and verse, here you go.

So, you got nothin’ then. Check.

Of course, I also note, upon reviewing the thread, that most of your responses have been of the sullen, superior, content-free variety.

I used that quote to demonstrate the the money used to purchase goods does not only go into the pockets of the rich. In no way does it imply “I can spend my money how I want.” It doesn’t even vaguely suggest that. (And you did use quotes, by the way.)

You are a liar.

What does this mean? I explained that the comment we were talking about (by Cat Whisperer) had nothing to do with you. That is most definitely something.

You can keep on spinning in the hopes that people will give up and forget that you were wrong as shit, then tried to change the subject. I suspect it has worked on a ton of people already.

I haven’t changed the subject since my first post. You’re insane.

Post 101. Not only did you change the subject, you attributed an opinion to Sarahfeena that she does not hold.

No, I think I nailed it rather accurately, and it perfectly illustrates the social attitude I was talking about in post 76. Gosh, I almost feel as if we’ve been over this before…

It did not reflect a social attitude. Sarahfeena didn’t say “As long as I get my paycheck, the rest of you can kiss my ass.” She was using her paycheck to demonstrate that people other than the rich receive money when a good is sold. She has explained this, yet you continue to attribute a mythical attitude to her.

What you are doing is dishonest & unethical. It makes you a crappy person. Maybe not all the time, but certainly here.
