IIRC in BB he told Walter White that people who were looking for a lawyer wouldn’t hire a “McGill” - they’d want a member of “The Tribe” so to speak. In BCS it was created as a a play on words, “\*(I)t’s all good man” ---

It’s more that Liz (and the episode’s writer) is nodding to the stereotypical brand of Jew who writes for television. There’s also an echo of Alvy’s line in _Annie Hall:_ > The rest of the country looks upon New York like we’re left-wing, Communist, Jewish, homosexual pornographers. I think of us that way sometimes, and I **live** here. ---

1. Thanks for supporting my memory about the draft dodger. maybe they did just censor part of the syllable. that would explain why I feel so certain that I did hear it. 2. Two things csn be true st the same time. There is no reason to disagree with you that some lines are deleted in order to accommodate longer commercial breaks, because it is probably true. But there are some specific words that have been removed and I don’t believe it is mere coincidence. You will not hear the n-word in an episode shown on broadcast or basic (commercial) cable channels. I mentioned the house goy comment that was removed from an episode I watched only yesterday. OTOH, the editing is inconsistent. Today I watched the first season episode where “Roger-belle” comes to visit. Archie uses the word fag 2 or 3 times, among other derogatory terms referring to gay men. That word, and its longer two-syllable form, is generally not used on commercial TV these days. 3. Amazon should be delivering my complete series DVD collection in the next couple of days, so soon I won’t need to give it another thought. ---

I’ve been greatly enjoying my box set the last couple of months. Just a few more episodes to watch in season 9 and my review is complete. A couple of new notes that have only come to mind after rewatching the entire series: 1. A clip from the Draft Dodger was replayed on the 200th Episode Celebration which aired in the middle of the final season. This was by far the clearest enunciation of goddamn and clearer than in the scene from the original episode. 2. Archie uses the n-word in exactly one episode (although he says it twice in that episode) - an 8th season episode where Mike and Archie are locked in the store room at the bar, and a drunk Archie tells a story of how he referred to another kid when he was a schoolboy. He is the only white actor/character who utters that word throughout the series. It is used several other times in the course of the series - e.g. Sammy Davis and George Jefferson/Sherman Hemsley, who used the word a number of times. ---

I remember a critic writing when the show was first being aired that Archie’s language was not realistic for people who actually espoused his views in real life. The critic complained that Archie used all sorts of colorful epithets for black people (“spear chucker”, “jungle bunny”, “black beauty”, etc) but never used the single most common term used by people like him. ---
