It’s been a long and winding thread. Between this and the sister thread “[Afghanistan Today](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/afghanistan-today/948624/)”, I suggest you read some of the excellent rebuttals to your objections by many posters such as **Stranger\_On\_A\_Train** , **Alessan** and **Martin\_Hyde**. I’m in no mood to repeat what they said or to attempt to steal their thunder.
