Got up to level 6. The thing is that with small countries you can click pretty much anywhere and get a decent score. Heh.

I enjoyed the first few levels, but failed to get enough points to pass level 6. And frankly, I have little enough interest in remembering where itty bitty places like the Seychelles are to mind getting them wrong. (Though I’m irked that I misplaced Belgium twice–in Europe, but near the wrong edge of France).

The problem with that game is that it uses Mercator projection, so the more equatorial stuff is very difficult to pinpoint. I had to change the resolution of my screen to the lowest possible res even to be in with a chance.
I got up to the penultimate level (9? 11?) and scored 531,374. I really suck at Africa, and the south Pacific islands present opportunity for a very wide margin of error.

I wanted to put all the Central American countries in South America. I found Iraq and Iran but was way off with Afghanistan.

That was fun. I made it to level 8. Total score=260,537
Apparently my traveler IQ is 100. Not too bad, considering I’ve never been out of the US. 🙂

I keep trying. Made it to level 7. Suriname? Shouldn’t that be over by Indonesia? I was only 8,000 miles off. 🙂

Score = 450,673
Traveller IQ = 120
The little arrow doesn’t allow much margin for error. But I was pleased to see that my lowest error (of 3 km) was for the Sydney Opera House.

I cleared level 10.
Are the scores computed strictly on the basis of how far you are from the place? 'Cause as someone upthread pointed out, the South Pacific stuff is really far apart. Also, the relative sizes of the countries make a big difference. I mean, I don’t know where anything is exactly in Spain, but just by clicking on Spain at all, I was getting pretty close on the destinations there. By contrast, if I hadn’t known that Perth was on the west side of Australia, I would have been thousands of miles off.

Level 12 has evil places like Bouvet, Norway (it’s near **Ant** artica), St. Pierre & Miquelon (I was shocked that France still owns part of Canada) and Ittoqqortoomiit, Greenland (at least Greenland is so stretched out that if you click in the middle you still get points.)
