Have word processors really diminshed the importance of cursive?

Loopy cursive is unattractive, slow, illegible, and many of the letters do not make any sense.

Italic cursive is what I use and what I teach my students. It’s basically joined printing. It’s beautiful, easy and fast to learn, and makes writing really fast. I should scan one of my fifth grader’s handwriting…wow! He has the most gorgeous italic cursive I’ve ever seen.
