Have you ever been personally affected by a federal government shutdown?

I have several students on their way to a conference who are now stuck in far-away airports due to canceled flights.

I have multiple federal grants pending (that will determine the employment status of my lab people, as well as a large chunk of my salary) that will not be reviewed, as the review panels were canceled due to the shutdown. No idea when, or if, they will be reviewed.

That is disappointing that, as you wrote, federal grants are not reviewed. I think Spiceweasel mentioned that as well. I resent Congress for their inability to compromise that’s causing these problems. I write to my rep every week about it like others do but that isn’t quite enough of course.
