There’s an M.D. with my name who colaborates on lots of research papers. The usual family tree nonsense, but no mention of the real me. And as I already suspected, tons of references to the guy at the Heritage Foundation who has my name. Articles he wrote, books he wrote, reviews of said books, press releases, announcements of speaking engagements, etc. I really have to get a life, he’s making me look bad… ---

I was bored at work one day- 1. Found out I died last month! The name was exact, including middle initial. Scary. Married, veteren just like me. Weird. 2. Rather accomplished professor. 3. Some guy who is really, really into Audi’s 4. Various professional references to me in attorney listing sites. _-me_ ---

Well, I just did my screen name and came up with Iron Maiden references, not too suprising since that’s where the name comes from. My real name though makes some intersting finds. None of them are my name. The thing is my real last name is pretty common and is used as a normal word so I get lots of hits that way. There are a few pages that do have me on there, that and I seem to be a school. Does anyone know why Google adds a damn " 's" to my name? that’s what really screws things up and I even put my name in quotes. Is there a way to get rid of this? ---

I get me. Some geneology sites, etc. When I first started playing around on the net, I didnt know about Google. It wasn’t until my father and a guy friend (each of whom were bored and googling me, apparently) brought it up that I remembered that I used to hit and contribute to the Spam Haiku site. Yes, Spam as in potted meat.:rolleyes: Google my boyfriend and you get some British (I think) dude who is very prominent in the D&D society! ---

Ah, ego-surfing . . . Unfortunately, both my first and last names are commonly-used words, so I get a lot of odd sites. In addition to stuff about me and my books, I also discovered there is another author (she writes medical books) who has MY EXACT SAME NAME! She and I have since become friends, and refer to each other as “Evil Twin.” ---

Searching for Lunatic13 mostly goes to Japanese pages that I can’t read. 😕 All the hits for my real name go to four google pages of things that I myself actually did. I’m not sure whether to be impressed or disapointed. ---

I tried that and didn’t get any Japanese pages. If you could post a URL I can check them out and tell you what they are about. I’m bummed, my own homepage used to be the top hit when I searched for my name, but some guy with the same name has written a book on C++. Now his page comes up above mine. Apparently there’s also another guy with my name who appeard in a movie called **Unagi** (“Eel”). ---

Every few months or so, I do an “ego search”. There are a few alternate **Lightnin’s** out there, but most of the links are either to me or about me. I guess I’m fairly prolific. It’s kinda fun to read posts that I made YEARS ago. ---

I’m listed as finishing 6th place on a friend’s Oscar picking contest page from 1998 (this really is me). I also had 3 hits in a minor league baseball game, in 1958 (9 years before I was born). Wow, talk about a “natural” I do geological surveying in one state and own a drilling company in the other. Actually the article says my father James owns it, but we all know I’m just waiting for him to kick the bucket. I seem to work in the corrugated container industry as some type of quality engineer. (this is freaky since I really did spend 3 summers working my ass off in a cardboard box factory during college) I am a senior researcher in a scientific program involving renewable energy through photovotaics (another freaky item - I spent the better part of a semester working on a marketing plan to market a technological innovation in my MBA program about 10 years ago: our new product was super-efficient photovoltaic cells for the home. Do you think this guy stole my B+ research project and my identity to profit?) I’m an English professor at a local college (I already knew this. We get students calling our number about twice a semester, wanting an extension on turning in their paper or approval to miss a test. If the caller is a co-ed I tell her we can discuss this issue if she comes by my office late on Friday, say at 6:00, oh - and be sure to wear a skirt.)
