My last name is very uncommon, all search results turn up either me (mostly), or relatives of mine. However, there seems to be a guy in Switzerland who drives a Porsche in club races that has almost the same last name as mine, except one single letter is different. I wonder if we’re related somehow. ---

Yep. I’m somebody as about as important as my current self. Some manager of some boring something-or-the-other. About the 5th best result from google finds the real me, since my name is associated with a car I owned and is posted/pictured under a collector’s page for Dodge cars. I’ve googled every friend and relative. My one friend is a fanatical Guatamalen priest somewhere. 🆒 ---

I just get me. One page where I corrected a scary fundie on his “satanic” symbols and one page where my business college is patting themselves on their back and listing all the recipients of their scholarships. I have an unusual last name, one letter off from a semi famous actor. Google asks me “Did you mean ‘Little Birrd’?” And I say no. Actually, in real life I’m often asked if I’m related to the guy. I am related to a semi-famous actress in the same genre, tho. ---

Hmmm… Out of the first five Google pages only four entries do not belong to the real me. I have an alter-ego who is a VP and CFO of some company and another who is a CIO for a company doing wireless networking. I also get a pair of pages from Brazil that I can’t read. I also get about 50 hits to my real pages, a surprising number of links from other people’s sites to my pages, several hits on an Interactive Fiction game I wrote a few years back, a frightening number of copies of a parody song I came up with about Cthulhu and, strangely enough, the main page and every archive page for my 'blog… ---

Huh. I’ve done searches for my name with yahoo, and that brought up a few pages about the supermodel with my name. I just did a search on Google, and it came up with “about 44,300” pages. Oy. I looked at about 60. It seems that I’m not only a supermodel, but also an associate professor of English in Pennsylvania, the Senior VP of Human Resources for Metropolitan Jewish Health System, and the assistant to Tom Brokaw who contracted cutaneous anthrax from his mail. Maybe my sites are on that list, but I’m not going to spend hours wading through it to find them. The search for BrattiAtti brought nothing. The search for my chat nick Attitudial brought a few websites that have articles using it as a word. I thought I made it up! I guess not… ---

I’d never googled my own name before. Apparently I’m a track and field coach in Knoxville. I do google the content of my movie website, though, on a regular basis. You’d be surprised how often I find my material ripped off and re-posted on others’ websites. Just last week, I had to email a university in Michigan and ask that they remove several of my uncredited and duplicated reviews off their student-activities site. To their credit, they pulled the offending pages within a couple of hours, but it should never have happened in the first place. ---

Yes I have! I actually found an awesome thing. I searched for my name, as well as the URL of a former web site of mine. It came up with a newspaper article that mentioned my site, and a link to it. It was a California/LA paper, I think, but I can’t remember its name. I went to my site (I hadn’t looked at it in months; it wasn’t the type of site that needed to be updated once it was all done) and saw, to my amazement, I had 1,000 visitors, whereas before it had been something like 100. The article explained it all. Searching for myself now, I find that I’m a college athlete, a minor sports star, a chief executive for some defunct web company, a scientist, an author, a sixth-grader, a biology student…the majority of those I found are either business leaders or some kind of scientist. Cool. Unfortunately, my name is extremely common, so to find an actual reference to myself among all this stuff would take days. So then I searched for a username I use on some sites, ‘muas’. After wading through all the acronyms, I found links to stories I’ve written on said sites. How fun to see the remarks about them! 🙂 ---

The closest matching link tells me im a geek that went to a computer programing camp (its true!), that one was really about me. None of the other linkys used my first and last name together though ☹ Hrmm, thinking about those good old days at programing camp is giving me nostalgia. Yes, I’ve done it before. In fact, I was talking about it with a friend of mine recently, and he’s seen someone with his exact name who’s a real estate agent (and one of the locall funeral directors has his friend’s name… creepy). Then again, in Gr.8-11, I didn’t have to do that (if it was in existence then), as there was a GUY with the exact same name as me in school! Scary, I tell you! Google returns “about 47,300” pages on me, and among other things, I am apparently: [ul] [li]a graduate student at Cornell[/li][li]a dental surgeon[/li][li]someone who did “Data Analysis Software for a Biomedical Gel Reader”[/li][li]an 11-year-old kid with a Pokemon obsession[/li][li]someone who works at some outfit called Kubo in Toronto[/li][/ul] I have yet to do Google searches on my friends, but I’m sure it’ll be interesting!
