I don’t drink that much, but I have friends who have lost days, minutes, hours. It’s kind of scary. I unfortunately have remembered everything, including stuff I wish I hadn’t done and couldn’t remember, and I wish nobody else remembered it either. ---

I am in the ‘a few hours’ camp- it only happened twice, and at the same folks house! That was a party spot, back in the early part of the last decade… But even being a huge drinker for the last couple of years, I never blacked out. Usually my intake is at least parsed with a mixer of some type- both blackouts were slamming shots of cheap high-proof rum with no food or any type of other liquid. We seem to have lots of drinkers and ex drinkers. I have, at various times, been both… Anyone ever start a poll about this? ---

I’m aware that with this as with many things ymmv but would it be safe to say that lost weekends of the type depicted in films don’t happen? ---

If _I_ haven’t lost a weekend, I’d say that weekends are seldom lost. ---

Never lost time due to drinking [or drugs, to be fair] however I have lost time while mrAru was out to sea, and I was playing games on my computer. I distinctly remember it being Tuesday, and dropping him off at the boat for deployment and coming home, getting changed into sweats and a t-shirt and settling in to play Stonekeep. I hear a knock at the door, and it is our buddy Max, coming to hang out and it is Thursday evening [at the time, Thursdays was one of our regular hang out evenings] I can honestly say I do not remember any of the intervening time, though I did at some point in time shower and change clothing and from the dishes in the kitchen eat at least twice. I am able to intently focus on tasks to the total ignorance of my surroundings, which can be good for studying in chaos, but I do need someone to get my attention. I suppose now a days I could set a visual and audio alarm on my computer that would tanks out whatever project is on my screen and manage to do it alone. ---

I hardly drink, so my personal experience isn’t really apt. But I’ve had two girlfriends who drank far, far too much, and this happened to both of them at one time or another. ---

Nope. Even though I used to be a hard drinker, I can’t say I ever lost a whole day or more. ---

There is one glaring blank spot in my memory…I really want to know what happened during those few minutes in the bathroom while I was in Austria. All I remember is going to the bathroom and then running down the hall with my pants around my ankles… To alcohol the cause of, and solution to all of lifes problems… ---

Hell no. If that ever happened to me I would never drink again. I do know some people that have memory loss like this from drinking, but I would describe all of them as alcoholics. I have blacked out one time in my life, and I only lost the memory of about 2 hours before I passed out for the night (if what I was told is true!). ---

Not from alcohol, no… But there is this one website, called [TVTropes](http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePage)… Seriously, though, going through their archives is…it’s like…it’s hard to describe. It’s kind of like, a giant maze, where all the walls are beautiful and captivating tapestries and you enter one morning and are forcibly dragged out by whatever life throws at your face. ---

Just me in my tighty whities discovering myself in the men’s bathroom of my dorm, with no one’s towel near, or even anyone passing by in a couple minutes. Except of course for the girl across the hall once I figured the coast was clear… :smack: ---

i’ve lost at most 8 hours, mostly at anime cons, and theres always great stories about how hilariously awesome i was. except that one year… apparently i did something really great, and one person is to this day deathly afraid of me. nobody would tell me specifically what i did, and why they were afraid, and everyone seems to have forgotten by this point. ---

I used to have a nasty habit of getting all warm and toasty with my beloved codeine based pain pills chased down with straight shots of whiskey. Someone up thread mentioned dancing on the edge without falling off. I’m willing to bet I had one foot and the toes of the other hanging in the breeze a few times. Problem is, I just don’t remember. ---

Nope, never lost a day or weekend to drinking (and I’ve done not only MY share but that of several others in my day…nothing I’m proud of, but there it is). At most, I’ve had maybe one or two times when I had to concentrate a bit to recall exactly what had been said and done the night before, but never a total blank. Usually, I had excellent recall (I could impress people by remembering exactly what was said/done/planned during my deepest drunk. …gee, maybe she wasn’t really that wasted after all…yes, I was :o) If I lost a day or weekend for any reason, I’d be scared shitless. ---
