I’m 46. I’m somewhat familiar with Jones and his music, almost undoubtedly and entirely due to listening to the Doctor Demento show when I was younger. ---

I think “Laura” ([Spike Jones And His City Slickers - Laura - YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ5_UXE9RMM)) is his magnum opus–it shows the Slickers could also be a damn good straight band when they wanted to. Then of course all hell breaks loose. ---

As a child, I had the misfortune to shed my baby front teeth in mid-December. As you can imagine, family and friends took turns regaling me with, “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth”. My next encounter with _Spike Jones and his City Slickers_ was during my college years, when I listened to Dr. Demento’s show. Genius, pure maniacal genius, and damn good musicians. ---

I have listened to classical, big band, swing, jazz and blues all my life. I love Spike Jones and His city Slickers. Spike Jones is what happens when a bunch of session musicians get bored 😃 Oddly enough, [Never Hit Your Grandmaw With a Shovel](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6RpZhIskSs) is playing right now [on my playlist right after Noel Coward’s [Could You Oblige Us With a Bren Gun](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYKxjE6fp3g).
