Vandalizing a Wikipedia page is pretty assholish. On par with writing in a book. I mean, if you want to be witty, why not start a blog or post to a site that looks for that stuff? It’s no different than tagging a wall. Vandalism is vandalism… you’re disturbing someone else’s work. Vandalize your own shit if you want, but what makes one want to mess up someone else’s effort? I suppose a really funny gag article would be okay. And in extremely rare situations, a side-splitting piece of wit might be acceptable. Otherwise I take a dim view. If you’d be pissed off if someone scribbled over a book you wanted to read in the library, then you know how annoying this is. Just because it’s more white collar than whipping out a Sharpie and tagging your initials on a street sign doesn’t make it any more acceptable. ---

A guy at work did an artful edit to the page about a media personality that he dislikes. The page is often vandalised by the inclusion of comments like “…is a CUNT.” However the guy at work included an amusing comment remarking on the personality’s achievement, having come so far with so little talent. Although his comment was subsequently edited and its tone softened, his remark remains there much to his amusement. ---

I found [this](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bad_Jokes_and_Other_Deleted_Nonsense/Funny_vandalism), a Wikipedia page that talks about “funny” vandalism. There are a couple interesting examples. I liked it because of the irony and kept it bookmarked after stumbling across it. Again, ironic, but its the only one I’ve ever vandalised. Second sentence in the first paragraph was me some time ago. ---

Yes. Once. There was a thread here a few months ago about a really terrible, content-free article, clearly written by one of its proud citizens, about a non-entity of a village in India, that housed “some good people” or something. I added “and some complete jerks”, which I felt was a fair addition to the first comment, and a likely assessment of the real situation. It lasted a whole day, IIRC. ---

I just saw this on the “Minesweeper” page: For the beginner level, the record is one second including a fag named leo portugal Guess what the vandalism is (added yesterday, according to the history). Tut tut. FTR, I never vandalise Wikipedia. I’ve had my own entries vandalised (although they called it “editing”, the philistines). ---
