We did, back when I was small. We had a dog, and she had a place to go during rain or bad weather, and I remember my childhood curiosity resulting in me crawling in once or twice, to see what it was like. Have you ever suffered a three-hour (or more) flight delay? ---

I got completely bumped one time. I was traveling with 3 kids who weren’t bumped. Of course that wouldn’t work one was in a carseat. Before it was all over we had a nice hotel accommodation and 2 meals for 4. Travelled the next morning. I’ve had a delay of 2 hours once because of inclimate weather. HYE been on a plane that made an emergency landing? ---

No, but I was on a flight that nearly ended up being an emergency situation. I was a passenger on a commuter flight, a Beechcraft 1900D, into Calgary. It was a very windy day, with plenty of gusting, and turbulence was a challenge through the flight. Just as we touched down, and were rolling at speed, a gust of wind yawed the aircraft so it was at about 45 degrees to the runway. I’ve flown often enough in small aircraft to know when something goes wrong, and I could feel that this was definitely wrong, but the pilot got us back, and that was that. On such flights, the co-pilot always stood at the bottom of the stairs as we disembarked. “That was close,” I said to him quietly. “Yeah, you got that right,” he quietly said back. Have you ever toured a brewery? ---

I “tour” small local breweries all the time. Years ago I did the official tour of Pittsburgh Brewing, makers of Iron City, IC Lite, Augustiner, etc. complete with the free glass of beer at completion. HYE visited a distillery? ---

Yes, I was within ten feet of lava, at the spot on the Big Island of Hawaii where the lava pours into the ocean. It was very dangerous (and illegal) to be there, since I was standing on cooled lava that could have collapsed. I could feel the heat through my shoes. I was also in a helicopter hovering over a pool of lava. The pilot briefly turned the copter onto its side, so I could get a better look. Have you ever continued to drive a car after getting a flat? ---

Yes. A real low point in my life. Drunk, depressed, and heading home. I didn’t dare stop. And was in no shape to change a tire. Caused a bit of extra damage. Have you ever been present at the birth of a child (not counting mothers giving birth) ---

I was my middle daughters labor coach for both of her babies. The first one, hubby took the classes but the first tight spot she got into he got dizzy. They marched him out and grabbed me. Gah! It’s a special kinda torture watching your child in that kinda pain. But I did it again on her second. Never again. HYE watched stitches being put in in an ER? ---

I saw and fell in love with a long (floor length) leather duster coat. I tried it on and it fit. It was expensive, but I happened to have a pocketful of cash, so I bought it. Never wore it in the wild. Hanging in my humid basement it quickly grew some kind of mold on it. I worked to clean it up, but a month later it was a mess again. I was too embarrassed to donate it, so I threw it out. Like **Beck** , I’m usually frugal with clothing.☹ HYE had a clothing failure? (Ripped inseam, nip slip, busted fly, etc)? ---

Yes, I (justifiably) called a cop a “fucking douchebag.” Was taken to jail, where I was verbally and physically abused. Had to go to court. The judge took my side, but fined me $5 for cursing within earshot of minors. Have you ever met a circus performer? ---

Kinda sorta. A friend worked for his family’s travelling carnival some years ago, and occasionally subbed as a clown a few times, working the crowds. The rest of the time, he worked the carnival games. Nice guy, and a good resource on what midway games to never play. Have you ever won a big stuffed animal at a carnival or fair? ---

Back in high school, my HS orchestra went to Ottawa, Canada. After our performance there was some sort of carnival, where I won a five-foot chartreuse rabbit (not counting the ears). It was quite a chore getting it home on the bus. Have you ever taken the wrong public transportation, and wound up in a totally unfamiliar place?
