Have you had a cardiac ablation?

Good luck to you!

So, it was done. I can’t tell much. I was wheeled into the operation room, talked a bit with the three nurses. Got something injected in the port and woke a bit ,three hours later, to hear someone ask me to move to a bed. I woke up again when I got into the room. No memory of going by elevator from second to fourteenth floor. I was told to stay on my back the next three hours while the holes in my groin stopped bleeding. Late in the evening I was send home. My daughter picked me up at ten PM.
Next morning I was allowed to take a bath and pull the plasters off. The hole in the right side was oozing a bit but not much. In the left side it looked healed. I haven’t had any A-fib after, but the nurse said it was normal to have a few episodes in the first two months.
I’m not allowed to lift more than four kg before Saturday, My cat can’t understand why I won’t lift him when he is so cute. Six kg is presumably too much.

Not much to it. I’m not scared of having an ablation more, should it be neccesary.

I’m glad the procedure was relatively easy for you.

Just an FYI: on this side of the pond, the “blanking period” (where arrhythmias are fairly common and not considered to be indicative of the eventual outcome) is generally considered to be three months, though the “best” time frame is the subject of ongoing research and discussion.

Wishing you a lifetime of Normal Sinus Rhythm!

I’m glad things went well and sympathize with the feline difficulty!

So happy everything went well!

Great news. Keep up the good work.

I developed a-fib about 15 years ago but controlled it with medication. Every couple years it would come back so the dosage of one of the meds would be increased. By 2019 The dosage had been increased to the maximum safe dosage. I went in for the ablation in September 2019. The procedure took longer than expected and I felt pretty wiped out by the anesthetic so they kept me in overnight. I’m now on reduced dosage of the meds plus a blood thinner and I still get a bout of a-fib once a month or so that lasts a few hours.
