I never used it, though I think it’s a clever description. I may introduce it into the household to amuse my kid. I’m all for amusing things that don’t cost me any money. ---

Back in college, they were also referred to as “Pizza Roaches.” For anyone confused/disgusted… it isn’t a reference to the bugs. ---

I learned it a few years ago on the internet, but given how long it’s been in use, I don’t think that counts as “heard.” I always eat the bones when I have pizza. ---

I didn’t use it growing up, and hadn’t heard it until I started dating my SO, who doesn’t eat the pizza crusts (and gives them to our dog). ---

Skipped over the entire thread to post: Have heard “pizza bones”, but for the first time maybe 3 or 4 years ago. I wonder if anyone was saying it in the 90s? 80s? ---

Only in the book ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ The main character Charlie mentions he called the crusts pizza bones as a child. I remember that (read the book around age 14 maybe?) because I thought it was weird/funny. Never heard it before or since. We just always called it the crust. ---

Worked for Pizza Hut for three years in the late 70’s, and have eaten tons of pizza since then, and never heard the term until tonight. ---

I have heard of it some time in the past, I think only once, and no memory of when or where. It would never occur to me to use it, or even recall it if I didn’t see it mentioned here. ---
