# Haven, Eureka of the supernatural?

The tone of the show is a lot more serious than Eureka but the shows still seem way too similar. I’ll probably watch a couple of more episodes to see how it develops. Truthfully I’m not expecting too much. What do you think?

I’m not sure yet. I saw it last night and watched it because the same person who told me it existed also mentioned that it was based on the Colorado Kid. In case you’re not familiar that was a pulp novel Stephen King wrote during a spell of crap right after he was hit by a car. In any event the show appears to have used the elements of the plot as a jumping off point. I was surprised they used so much of the plot on a shot episode though; I’m not sure where that leaves room to go. But it did feel like a King story, so I’ll tune in a few more times to see if they can continue with the same atmosphere.

As soon as they mentioned “Maine” I knew it was based on a Stephen King story, who doesn’t seem to have ever heard of any other State.

What do you think of Warehouse 13? LOL
I thought the pilot was OK. I like the characters. I’m not sure how strong ‘freaky person of the week’ will be as a plot driver episode. The ‘my mom was here’ thread interests me, although it’s not clear if she was actually involved in the Colorado Kid case, or if she was just a random spectator in a news photo.

So does much of the Stand. Major parts also take place in Nevada. And New York. And Texas. Maine…I’m not sure, did Franny and Harold start in Maine? I know they started in that general area.

So, should I watch Haven? Is it worth the time, or is it simply Eureka without the levity?

I’d have to say: too early to tell. Has definite potential, but doesn’t grab you immediately by the balls like say Lost did, and it’s not clear yet what the typical episode vs mythology will be like.

I gathered from the first episode that the road disintegration was due to the FBI head black guy.
Pea soup, snow, winds, and stroms was all from Dax lady.
Super strong cop - he’s not strong, he’s just pain-free.

Okay, now that I’ve seen episodes one and two, Haven seems, to me, to be a cross between Heroes and X Files, only not as interesting as either because we’ve all been there before.
The “ability of the week” episode structure is getting a little old at this point, isn’t it?
And can I go ahead and call it that the woman in the photo is Audrey? Wow, what a shocker. How long into the series are they going to draw that out, I wonder.
I’m sure this is all going to build to some great revelation as the season comes to a close. I wonder how long it’ll be before Scull…I mean Audrey learns the truth.
I’ll probably give it one or two more episodes before I forget about it as I did with Flashforward and V.

I just realized “Haven” was also the town in The Tommyknockers. Given King’s penchant for reusing locations, this could very well be same town 23 years later.
