[This poor bastard](http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/01/25/sawed.off.hand.ap/index.html) used a nail gun to help distract himself from the pain of a severed hand.

Now, I’m normally the kind of jerk who finds such stories entertaining, but I genuinely feel sorry for this fellow. Not only does he lose a hand, but it hurts so bad he drives nails into his skull until he passes out, and then his asshole boss goes and tells CNN about it. That’s just not cool.

There was a pensioner in the UK a while back who took a drill to his heart because he couldn’t deal with angina pain. Poor bastard.
